What you need to know about ABA Therapy

We understand that a new diagnosis for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can bring about confusion and an overwhelming feeling like, "Where do I start?" or "How is this even treated?"

These and all other questions are completely valid, and you are not alone. We are here to help break down the process for you.

What is ABA?

ABA is Applied Behavior Analysis. This is an evidence based practice to understand why the behavior is happening and how it is affected by the current environment. ABA focuses on decreasing the less desirable behaviors and to increase the behaviors we want to see.

The ultimate goal of ABA is to improve socially important behaviors. ABA therapy can address multiple developmental areas for a child. This includes perspective taking, executive functioning, social skills, increasing communication, adaptive learning skills, coping skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skill, hygiene, and daily living skills.
